Isaiah 64:8 Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.

Signed with Love

In a world of matching and comparison, we cannot be either. As humans, we are a similar likeness, yet unique, specifically in the gifts God has given each individual. Specifically, for me, God has given me a unique creative ability to see and observe His world around me, and then to interpret His creation in works of art...

When an artist makes an original work of art, it is considered one-of-a-kind. The art is hand done, with many hours of labor and work. The artist will paint the picture using their own form of expressionism that is unique to that artist alone, no other artist can duplicate it. Even if a master artist were to come along and repaint a painting to appear exactly like the first, they could never duplicate the artist’s expression.

Expression cannot be taught. With one quick brush stroke across a canvas, paint is applied. But no one can make that same stroke twice – with the same pressure, arm movement and even emotion behind it, it is impossible. Expression is an innate, God given uniqueness distinctly gifted to each individual. It is solely theirs that is unequaled to any other. The artist themselves could not replicate their own work exactly. Each work is a unique, one-of-a-kind, original artwork. That is what makes fine art so valuable.

God breathed expressionism into us to become an example of His infinite love.  We are an expression of God Himself, just as an artist expresses themselves through their artwork. Each and every one of us are an exclusive original signed by the creator and stamped with His love.

God, being the master artist, created us in such a way that we could never be duplicated. A machine can duplicate, yet we are each an original creation from God. Original artworks are always more valuable and desirable because they are done by the artists own hand, not manufactured. We are an original work, done from the artists own hand. Psalm 139:13-14 says it best, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” We cannot be compared and thus are incomparable. We are a one-of-a-kind unique work, an expression of His love and that is why we are so valuable.

After the creation of all things, including us, “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.” Genesis 1:31. Just like a painter at an easel taking a step back and looking at their completed painting, taking a breath and saying, it is good! He thinks that about us and created us so uniquely good! So good He wanted to keep us, His works of art, with Him forever.

God is an unrivaled, master creator of all things, including you individually. Today ask Him what makes you an original work of art.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

“You are my work of art!” Signed with Love, God
